You have little more than two months to prepare yourself for a zombie invasion. It’s well known that 2012 is ushering about the apocalypse on December 21st. It’s slightly less well known that it will be zombies. That leaves you a little over two months to gather supplies, create a plan, make peace and prepare for the worst.
How better to spend that time than real live-fire anti-zombie training? It’s all the rage these days.
Civilian Anti-Zombie Training
As Undead Report is physically based in Chicago, I have taken the opportunity to enroll in some live fire training and simulations. DMZ Tactical out of Homer Glen is currently running a zombie drill against mannikins and targets. Participants may bring their own pistol, or are issued a rental 9mm pistol and 12ga. shotgun.
Four courses are set up for a variety of shooting scenarios including distance, precision, and point blank. Shooting a bleeding zombie target in the face from six feet away is not to be missed!
The courses were well planned and quite fun. The RSOs were all friendly and very safety conscious, always at the shooters side throughout the duration of their course, ensuring safety at all times, while encouraging us to “bust it!” and “move move, aim for the head”!
Hearing the PING of the targets in the shotgun course is particularly satisfying.

HALO’s training is a five day course complete with volunteers in zombie makeup, mock cities and pirate hideaways. On Hallowe’en, HALO will be conducting Strategic Operations Demonstrations geared towards a very infectious zombie apocalypse.
